What is Impact?

Impact is an evidence-based program designed for our students to engage in meaningful discussion about alcohol or other substance use. During your Impact session, you will receive personalized feedback regarding your substance use, along with a variety of harm reduction strategies to help you be safe and responsible.

Impact is available to all students, however, may be required for those who have been sanctioned by the Residence Hall system, Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, Corvallis Municipal Court, Benton County Circuit Court, the City Attorney’s Office, or other off-campus referral sources.

If you have been sanctioned, there is a mandatory $125 fee. This helps to cover the costs of the program.

Fees

By scheduling an Impact appointment (Alcohol/Marijuana class, one-on-one, or initial CADC evaluation) you are agreeing to this mandatory fee and will be charged the $125 fee once per referring instance; unless you meet one of the following requirements set forth below:

  • A missed class without notifying Impact staff via impact@oregonstate.edu at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled class time, will result in being charged additional fees and restarting your class completion process.

  • Failing to complete the Impact psychoeducation course you were referred for and signed up for in its entirety, will result in being charged additional fees and restarting your class completion process.

  • Arriving more than ten minutes late to class or an appointment, or being disruptive in a way that requires the facilitator to ask you to leave, will result in being charged additional fees and restarting your class completion process.
  • Utilizing the CADC (Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor) services to meet a court-mandated requirement, will result in initial fee and $82 for each additional required follow-up appointment with the CADC.

*Please note that the mandatory fee does not apply to self-referrals or those that have been indicated by their referral agent having qualified for medical amnesty.
