International Student Immunization Requirements

UPDATE: Effective June 16, 2023, Oregon State University will no longer require proof of COVD-19 vaccination. 

Required vaccinations:

All international students entering OSU must have:

  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)

    • Two doses of measles vaccine given at least 30 days apart on or after the first birthday or physician documentation of measles disease or a lab test documenting immunity to measles disease.
    • Two doses of mumps vaccine given at least 30 days apart on or after the first birthday or physician documentation of mumps disease or a lab test documenting immunity to mumps disease.
    • One dose of rubella vaccine given on or after the first birthday or a lab test documenting immunity to rubella disease.

  • Meningococcal MCV4 - 1 dose

    • Students under the age of 22 must provide documentation of one dose of meningococcal quadrivalent (MCV4) received on or after turning 16 years old.

  • Varicella - 2 doses

    • Varicella (chickenpox) immunization is required for all students. Date of disease is also accepted, if documentation is provided.

  • Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis (Tdap) - 1 dose

    • Immunization for tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (Tdap) dose received within the last ten years. 

  • Hepatitis B - 3 doses

    • Hepatitis B is required for all students. Date of disease is also accepted.

 

Recommended Vaccinations:

While not required at this time, we highly recommended the following: 

  • COVID-19

  • Meningococcal B

    • Student age 25 and under are recommended to provide documentation of 2 doses of Bexsero or 2 doses of Trumenba (3 doses recommended if at an increased risk).

  • HPV

  • Annual flu shot

TB testing requirements

Students from countries identified as high TB risk or who have answered "yes" to any of the questions on the TB questionnaire must complete TB testing upon arrival at Oregon State. 

This testing is available through Student Health Services. In many cases, testing will be included in your new student orientation coordinated by INTO-OSU and OSU International Programs.

Testing must be completed within the United States, so please do not pursue advance testing in your country. Instead, expect to complete your TB testing upon arrival at OSU.

Official documentation is required for all vaccines. 

International students whose first dose of measles vaccine was received less than 30 days prior to attendance will have until the beginning of the second term to receive and provide documentation of a second dose.

The required health form is available online at the Patient Portal. You must also submit copies of your official immunization documentation by fax, mail or email prior to arriving at OSU.
