Collegiate Recovery Community Graduate Assistant (.49 FTE = 19 hours/wk.) (open until filled)

The Division of Student Affairs at Oregon State University is establishing a Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC). The CRC seeks to provide students in recovery from alcohol and drugs with support and services to enhance their success at OSU. The CRC GA is responsible for helping establish the program at OSU.

This graduate assistantship is being awarded for the 2013-2014 academic year beginning September 2013 – June 2014. This is a full-time graduate assistantship that requires 19 hours per week of service. This graduate assistantship requires being part of a Student Health Services in-service and additional training that will take place the week before classes begin in Fall Term 2013. Compensation includes tuition remission, health benefits and a monthly stipend.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Understanding of addiction and recovery
  • Accepted into an OSU graduate program
  • Demonstrated strong communication and organizational skills.
  • High level of comfort presenting to groups as well as working in a one-to-one environment.
  • Understanding of the role confidentiality and the importance of confidentiality within a health services environment.

MARS Outreach Worker - Part-time Student Position (10–20 hrs/week) (open until filled)

The person in this position will be responsible for implementing the MARS (Male Advocates for Responsible Sexuality) Program at Oregon State University. The program is designed to promote sexual responsibility among college males.

Duties include:

  • Serve as a responsible male role model to peers
  • Promote MARS mission and program services by conducting outreach, including informal networking and health fairs.
  • Design and present sexual health programs
  • Collaborate with and promote MARS to community organizations and members
  • Conduct one-on-one confidential sexual health consultations with males
  • Participate as an active member of the Health Promotion Department team

Beaver Strides Graduate Assistant (.49 FTE = 19 hours/wk.) (open until filled)

Beaver Strides is a campus-wide physical activity program that uses pedometers and other incentives to help motivate people to move more throughout the day. The Beaver Strides Graduate Assistant is responsible for coordinating the Beaver Strides program as well as conducting one-on-one health coaching appointments on a variety of topics. In addition, the Beaver Strides Graduate Assistant will engage in program development and evaluation, outreach activities, and serve as an active part of the Student Health Services Health Promotion Department.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Exercise and Sport Science, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Health Sciences, or other related fields
  • Accepted in to an OSU graduate program in public health, EXSS, CSSA, social sciences, education, or a related field

IMPACT Instructor Graduate Assistant (.49 FTE = 19 hours/wk.) (open until filled)

The IMPACT program seeks to provide students with education and feedback about their alcohol and other drug use. The IMPACT instructor is responsible for working with students both individually and in group formats to deliver educational interventions to students. Students participate by self-referral, being mandated by Student Conduct, through the diversion program offered by city and county judicial services/court, or as a participant in an outreach program. In addition, the IMPACT instructor will engage in program evaluation, research, and be an active part of the SHS Health Promotion Department.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Health Sciences, or other related fields.
  • Accepted into an OSU graduate program in Public Health, CSSA, social sciences, education or a related field.
