Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuro-musculoskeletal complaints, such as back or neck pain, joint pain and headaches.  Treating these disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system can lead to better overall health.

Other benefits of chiropractic care may include improved muscle flexibility and joint mobility, relaxation and comfort.

What is chiropractic care?

The most common procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is spinal manipulation.

This procedure is used to restore joint mobility by applying controlled force to joints that have become restricted in movement due to tissue injury. This injury may have been caused by a single event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stress, such as sitting with poor posture for an extended period of time.

Manipulation of the affected joint and tissues can restore mobility, alleviate pain and tightness, and allow the tissues to heal.

Chiropractic care is located at SHS@Dixon (in the Dixon Recreation Center). Students may call the SHS main line at 541-737-9355 or visit the reception desk just inside the west entrance to make an appointment.

Appointments are made for half-hour or one-hour intervals and there is a charge for this service.

A medical referral is not necessary. However, check with your health care insurance provider for coverage requirements. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please call in advance. All missed appointments will be charged.

How should I prepare? What should I expect?

Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing to your appointment. It is best if your clothing allows you to stretch. Your first visit will take approximately one hour. Follow-up visits will take about 30 minutes.
