Welcome to the Pharmacy at Student Health Services

Our registered pharmacists are available five days a week to fill student prescriptions, provide drug information and answer health-related questions. In addition, we offer a wide variety of over-the-counter (OTC) items at competitive prices.

Our location is operated by the OSU College of Pharmacy and we serve as a training site for pharmacy students.

Eligibility for care

At this time, services are available only to registered students. Please present your valid OSU identification card at each visit.

Over-the-counter medications

We carry a wide range of over-the-counter (OTC) medications, often at costs lower than what you’ll find in drug stores. These medications do not require a prescription.

We carry limited quantities and stock generics if they are available. Keep in mind that prices are subject to change.

Student discount program

Ask us about the student discount program! You may pay less for over-the-counter medications or self-pay prescriptions than you would at a pharmacy in town.

Prescription

We can fill prescriptions from any practitioner—not just providers on campus—and we may be able to special-order items for you within one business day. Simply bring us your prescription at least 15 minutes prior to closing to be filled on the same day. See our operating hours.

How to request a refill:

  • Submit a refill request online
  • Call 541-737-3491 and leave us your name, ID number and prescription number (if you have it).
  • Stop by the pharmacy during our business hours.

Prescription transfers

  • To us: Prescriptions may be transferred to us from outside pharmacies by completing the Transfer Request Form.
  • From us: Prescriptions may be transferred from us to another pharmacy by giving the new pharmacy our phone number: 541-737-3491.

Payment and insurance

We accept most third party insurance plans. The first time you purchase a prescription, you will need to present your pharmacy insurance card. If you are enrolled in the university student health insurance plan, 90% of your prescription costs are covered.

Methods of payment

  • You may pay in full at the time of your visit by cash or check, or charges can be placed on your student account. We do not accept credit or debit cards.

Drug formulary

  • The prescription drugs we carry are determined by medications routinely prescribed by the Student Health Services medical staff. If we do not have an item you want, talk to one of our pharmacists.

Pharmacy FAQ

Does my prescription have to be from Student Health Services?

No. We accept prescriptions from both in-house and outside physicians.

Do you automatically fill my prescription when you get it from my provider?

No. We fill prescriptions only when you request it.

If you do not make this request within 2 hours after we receive a prescription from your provider, it will be placed on hold until we hear from you.

What information do you need to fill my prescription?

Bring us your student ID and your prescription insurance card.

Note that we cannot fill any prescription for a controlled substance without a valid government-issued photo ID.

Can someone pick up my prescription(s) for me?

Yes. If someone is going to pick up your order for you, you must call us and tell us who that will be.

They must present a valid picture ID.

How long does it take to fill my prescription?

It takes us about 15-20 minutes to fill a prescription.

Some situations will increase your wait time, including: multiple prescriptions, insurance problems, need to consult the provider, or need for patient consultation with the pharmacist.

We will work as quickly as possible to accurately fill your prescription, check potential drug interactions and/or allergies and make sure that you are comfortable with your medication and all of your questions have been answered before you leave.

Do you accept insurance?

Most third party insurance plans are accepted.

Contact your insurance provider or check with us to see if your plan is accepted.

Once we have your pharmacy insurance information, we will keep it on file. This allows us to file insurance claims on your behalf.

If you are enrolled in the university student health insurance plan, 90% of the cost of your prescription(s) is covered.

What if I cannot find my pharmacy insurance card?

Call your insurance company or your home pharmacy and ask for the following information: BIN, PCN, Group and ID numbers. Not sure what these are? Just ask us!

How do I refill my prescription?

• Complete an online Refill Request Form.

• Call us at 541-737-3491 and leave your name, ID number, and prescription number (if you have it).

• Come see us on the first floor of the Plageman Building in room 109.

Can I transfer my prescription from another pharmacy?

Yes. Complete our Transfer Request Form and allow one business day for us to fill your medication.

What if my prescriber is in another city or state and my prescription runs out?

Your prescriber is welcome to phone in a prescription refill or send an electronic or fax prescription.

Alternatively, you may see a provider at Student Health Services to discuss your continued care.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash or check, or charges can be placed on your OSU student account. We do not accept credit or debit cards.

How can I be sure to have enough medication before I leave for break?

We will gladly work with your insurance company to see if they allow for a vacation supply.

If there is no insurance involvement, you can get enough medication to last until you return.

We can also transfer your prescription to your home town pharmacy for the break and transfer back any remaining refills when you return.

Do you sell over-the-counter products?

Yes, we have a variety of products available without a prescription.

These products include medications for relief of pain, colds, coughs, allergies, nasal congestion, sore throat, diarrhea, acid reflux and other problems.

Can I purchase Pseudoephedrine products at the pharmacy?

No. Oregon law requires a prescription for products containing pseudoephedrine.

How can I get emergency contraception?

Plan B emergency contraceptive is available here and can be purchased without a prescription.

Where can I park?

We offer free 30-minute parking spaces for our customers in the lot adjacent to the Plageman Building.

Just park in a visitor spot and come into the pharmacy to ask for a temporary parking permit.

Prescription Refill Request

The Student Health Services Pharmacy is pleased to accept your prescription refill requests over the Internet for prescriptions that are from the SHS Pharmacy using the form below.

If you would like us to transfer your prescription TO our pharmacy and refill the prescription, please use this form to submit the request: Transfer Request Form.

Please note the following:

  • If your prescription has authorized refills remaining, we can fill it immediately.
  • If there are no remaining refills authorized, we must contact your clinician, which will delay processing of your request (typically 1-3 business days).
    • Authorized and approved requests that are received before 1:00 p.m. will be filled the same business day.
    • Requests received later than 1:00 p.m. will be processed the next working day.
    • You MUST include your phone number and date of birth in the request form. Requests without phone numbers and date of birth will not be filled.

Please be prepared to present your student ID when you pick up your prescription.

To transfer your prescription TO our pharmacy: please fill out the form below. 

To transfer your prescription FROM our pharmacy to another pharmacy: please contact the pharmacy where you want to pick up the prescription and give them our phone number (541-737-3491). They will take it from there.

Please note the following:
