metrogel-vaginal .75% and glass of wine
Question: if i take metrogel vaginal .75 in the evening before bed can i have 2 glasses of wine before my next dose the next day? I read the pi and said do not take with alcohol, is that before/after/during? how long do i need to wait between doses of metrogel. What is the half life? thanks
Answer: If you are taking an oral form of metrogel, you should refrain from drinking any form of alcohol because the metrogel can interact with the alcohol to cause severe nausea, vomiting, etc. Even if you are applying a topical form of metrogel, you should refrain from drinking alcohol. Depending on the absorption of the metrogel in your body, alcohol can interact with it to produce severe side effects. Since there is no way to know how much metrogel is absorbed by your body through topical application, you should abstain from alcohol just to be safe. Depending on the dose, the metrogel can take up to three days until it has been cleared from your body.
SPOT recommends that you do not drink alcohol during your use of metrogel and for at least three days after your last application of the metrogel.
