Switching from Alesse 21 to Marvelon 21
Question: I have been on Alesse21 for 2 months now, both months I have had spotting, the last time was a week before ending my pills. I have not been taking the pill for 7 days now, and still no period. I have taken my pills on time, except for one incident when i took the pill 2 hours late. I wanted to switch to Marvelon 21 and was wondering whether i should start the pack even though i have not had my period, or should I wait until my period starts ?
Answer: It would be best to start the pack when you would have started the new pack of Alesse. If you go more than 7 days without taking a pill, your risk of pregnancy increases. If you are late in starting the Marvelon, you can start it now, but use a back-up method of birth control for the first 7 days.
