Q: I have been given cetirizine dihydrochloride (10mg tabs) for an allergy. The dosage is 5 tablets, one twice daily. I am on ALESSE and i was wondering there would be any interaction between the 2 drugs. Should I be using an additional form of contraception for this month? A: There aren't any negative interactions between these two drugs--the effectiveness of your oral contraceptives won't be compromised. Unless it makes you feel more comfortable, a back-up method isn't necessary.- Spot (July 16, 2003)
